Vinayak & Aasheekaa Kovalam : This wedding saw a Bohemian mehendi, Malayali wedding rituals, and a bride with infectious energy!

An amalgamation of North Indian and South Indian cultures- this Malayali groom and Sindhi bride had a typical Kerala wedding, by a picturesque beach in Kovalam.

This wedding had some jaw-dropping decor elements, which were every-bit-gorgeous.

Love by chance

It was a rainy and cold Saturday night. Vinay and Aasheekaa met at their common friend’s house. There was an instant connection, something that made both of them feel that they were meant to be together. 

Time froze while they continued chatting, and before they knew it 90 minutes had passed! Vinay immediately asked her out, and the very next day they had their first official date.

The rest is history…

The Wedding Festivities

Mehendi 

The first thing that caught our eyes was the multi-coloured, vibrant and unique outfit donned by Aasheekaa, and of course her infectious smile!

Unlike the typical mehendi lehenga, she wore the outfit as a crop top and skirt, sans the dupatta- making it super easy to handle. The jewellery was kept minimal in an attempt to highlight the mehendi most. The bride was seen sporting a beautiful floral tiara. 

The enthusiastic guests were welcomed with a cute signage, a cart of colourful bangles, and Indian flowers. The beautiful Kovalam sky, lush palm trees, the cane tokris and marigold flowers, transformed the mehendi ceremony into something phenomenal! A gorgeous altar was brought together with dreamy florals- marigolds and bougainvillaea. 

Strings of flowers and rich golden hues of marigold blooms brought the venue to life! Moreover, the seating arrangement was super-comfortable and vibrant; with personalised fabrics, bolsters and minimalistic tabletops. 

Sangeet and Cocktail

The theme of the sangeet was ‘Secret Garden’, and the decor lived up to the name completely! The ceremony took place by the ocean, bedecked with rustic decor elements, including wooden signage to welcome the guests. The couple seating comprised a teepee of jade-hued foliage, candle shades, wicker chairs, and open bulbs along with the wooden framework. 

The ceremony saw a sit-down dinner. Keeping with the rustic theme, the decorations included a canopy of ferns, white carnations with a sprinkle of baby breaths, and exposed bulbs. The highlight of the ceremony was gold chairs adorned with hexagonal ‘Bride’ and ‘Groom’ boards. 

Dinner by the sea, with the guests enjoying the sound of the waves crashing against the shore- isn’t it charming?

Wedding

The wedding venue looked nothing short of a painting!

Atisuto took Indian minimalism to a whole new level with muted colour palettes, organic banana leaves, a canopy of white flowers, and cascading tiny bells. 

The bride and groom were dressed in traditional outfits. Vinayak wore a white mundu. Instead of  donning a traditional paattu or kasavu saree, Aasheekaa wore an orange and rust kanjeevaram saree instead. 

Reception

Aasheekaa, the Sindhi bride, would otherwise wear a lehenga for her wedding, however, as she had a Malayali wedding and flaunted a saree on her D-day, she decided to wear one on her reception instead.

The cream coloured lehenga had an earthy glam, which matched the bride’s style. “I danced the night away in my Sabyasachi lehenga and felt like a princess!” 

Rich burgundy hues were chosen for the reception decor, with opulent velvet fabrics and tons of flowers.
