Kush & Penny Mussoorie : The bride entered the venue with her own full-blown baraat and had a Game of Thrones themed mehendi!

A breathtaking location, eloquent outfits and of course a bindaas bride- this wedding was like one big party!

About the couple..

Penny and Kush came across each other through an app, ‘Hinge’. Their first conversation at 2am in the morning was all about Apple and New York and to their surprise they hit it off instantly! Owing to the fact that they resided in different cities, they met only after seven months of dating online.

What actually sealed the deal was when Kush came over to see Penny when she hurt her back. While she was on bed rest, Kush took complete care of her. Although Penny couldn’t go out, it seemed quite like a bitter-sweet situation for her! “He cooked for me, made sure I took my meds, even tied my shoes for me and took care of everything so I don’t even have to move from my bed. That was the moment I realized if a guy I have been barely dating takes care of me so well what would he be like if I were to call him my husband. That was it for me then and there.”

The Proposal..

On one of his visits to New York, Kush asked Penny to dress well as he had planned to take her out to a fancy restaurant with cousins. Penny at first was excited awaiting a proposal, but then the fact that others would be present left her confused!

When Penny arrived at the spot, she was awe-struck! It was a super-romantic walk overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Penny noticed a dock, laden with fairy lights, reason enough for her to be elated. As they approached the dock, she noticed loads more- their pictures, roses and photographers hiding behind rocks. Suddenly, she saw that her  friends and his family were present too.

This was it, Penny said ‘YES’ and they decided to tie the knot.

The Wedding Festivities..

While Penny’s mother and brother chipped in to help with the entire wedding planning process and Kush was responsible for selecting the venue and planning a perfect pyjama party, major decision-making was taken over by the bride.

Being a graphic designer, she used it to her advantage and made her own wedding invites, invite video, stationary and a helpful wedding website- with helpful tips and details of the wedding. The added pressure came from the fact that Penny was studying when they decided to get hitched and she had to ensure the ceremony took place during her spring break. This meant a whole lot of virtual planning, tantrums and innumerable trips to India.

Mehendi

The bride was seen flaunting a beautiful blue gotapatti lehenga, while the groom wore a white kurta and chudidaar, paired with a blue jacket. The highlight of the ceremony was undoubtedly Penny’s Game of Thrones-inspired mehendi designs that completely blew us away!

Haldi

The Haldi ceremony saw both the bride and groom dressed in yellow attire. Family and friends seemed to have a gala time, rubbing the bride and groom’s faces with haldi and pouring water over them.

Wedding

The bride was dressed in an extravagant dull gold blingy lehenga and she looked like a million bucks! The groom donned a pastel-hued elegant sherwani. Both teamed their outfits with contrasting emerald green jewellery pieces. The most striking feature of this affair was that there were two baarats- while Kush entered the venue dancing away in a vintage car, Penny stole the show by reaching the venue on a horse. This bride successfully broke stereotypes and we simply LOVED IT!

About Alankritaa (Mehendi designer)..

“Choosing Alankritaa to do my Mehndi was a decision I made 10 years ago when I met her at an exhibition where I had my own jewelry stall and we became friends and I absolutely loved the idea of custom mehendi and her work is just phenomenal. She is the one who introduced me to the idea and I thought it was brilliant. So when I told her I wanted her to do my wedding mehendi, I just asked her for her availability and that’s it. I didn’t even ask for the price in advance or even contacted any other artist.”

About Whistling Teel (Wedding planner)..

“There was not a thing that went wrong. From making sure the decor was done right to getting the samagri when needed at the ceremony. All our guests were so pleased with their service and the way they handled everyone’s transportation, just blew my mind. Very very well organized sans any chaos. It was an absolute breeze.”

About Fotowalle (Photographer)..

“I don’t even know where to begin about Fotowalle, I picked them before I picked a husband. That’s how much I loved them. I had such a blast talking to them when I was in the process of taking the decision that I knew as much as it is important to have a good and professional photographer at a wedding, it is equally important to have one that makes the friends and family feel at ease and happy. And man oh man they delivered and how. They were better than I ever imagined.”
