Akash & Surbhi Ujjain : A high school friendship that turned into a forever love for this couple!

Akash & Surbhi Ujjain : A high school friendship that turned into a forever love for this couple!

“I found my soulmate, I found my one true love, I found my one and only forever and always, I found that in you.”

Their Story
Surbhi and Akash met way back in 8th standard when they ended up being classmates in St. Mary’s, Ujjain. Over time, they became really good friends but love blossomed earlier for Akash and when they were in the 11th std, he asked Surbhi to be his girlfriend. Since they lived in a rather small town, Surbhi feared that people would soon find out so she suggested revisiting the topic once they completed their studies. Akash started distancing himself and perhaps that time apart was much needed because Surbhi realised just how much she valued him and could not do without Akash being a part of her life.

From there it began a 9-year long relationship of long distance with Akash in the USA and Surbhi in Mumbai. There was no proposal that ever took place because Surbhi spent quite some time convincing her parents about her and Akash, a situation quite opposite of what happened when Akash introduced her to his parents. In the end, everything worked out for the best.

The Wedding Celebrations
Surbhi and Akash’s week-long wedding celebrations began with a Mataji Pujan where the former had to walk barefoot to the family temple in with a band baaja trailing behind and all the ladies of the village joining in to welcome the wave of happiness that the family was going to be blessed with.

Next was the Mehendi ceremony which took place in Indore and the theme was decided as ‘Rajasthan’ since Surbhi comes from a Marwari family. The bride-to-be wore a beautiful sunshine yellow lehenga with a matching crop top sporting over-the-top frilly sleeves. Next day, the Sangeet was truly an action-packed celebration that had the couple and their closest friends and family members rocking the stage with incredible dance performances.

This was followed by a Reception and then early-morning pheras on the last day. Surbhi went for the traditional lehenga engulfed in floral motifs. On the other hand, Akash went for a cream sherwani and paired it with a red shawl. All in all, the couple’s simple ceremonies were made special with the opulent decor for each celebration.
